WoW Warrior Glyphs
With Patch 3.0, prior to the release of Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard introduced a new profession: Inscription. A scribe is able to craft so called glyphs. These alter spells and abilities, increasing their damage or changing their effects. Every player at level 80 has 3 major and 3 minor glyph slots, for a total of 6 slots. While minor glyphs, as their name suggest, only offer smaller modifications to some spells, major glyphs have a greater impact on damage and gameplay of the changed skills. All glyphs are created by a scribe with parchment, which is bought from a vendor, and ink. Ink is made by milling herbs. Different types of ink are created depending on the level of the milled herbs. Almost every end-game glyph requires Northrend herbs.
The choice of glyphs depends on the Warrior's talent spec. The protection Warrior almost has too many major glyphs at his disposal, but as he is limited to 3 major glyph slots he has to make some tough decisions. MS Warriors will, as long as they don't want to play competitive PvP, glyph their Mortal Strike. As long as he is doing solo content the Glyph of Overpower is a viable alternative - not so much for group play though. Heroic Strike is a good choice for a glyph, not only for MS Warriors but also for Protection Warriors, as this glyph saves up lots of rage. Combined with the Glyph of Revenge the Protection Warrior will not suffer from rage starvation, even with little incoming damage. The glyph of blocking is mandatory for the Protection Warrior while the glyphs for Whirlwind and Bloodthirst.
The minor glyphs will be used by the Warrior to reduce the cost of Bloodrage or increase the duration of Battle Shout.
