Armed with a one-handed weapon and a shield the protection Warrior stands face to face with the enemy. Even large groups of enemies are no problem anymore, as Thunder Clap and Shockwave make them a formidable AoE tank. Thunder Clap hits all targets in the vicinity of the Warrior and lowers their attack speed by up to 20% for 22 seconds while Shockwave send a wave of energy towards the enemies, stunning them for up to four seconds and dealing damage to them. These skills are useful against a single enemy as well, as this will make fighting them easier. The latest addon Wrath of the Lich King introduced the new inscription profession. A scribe is able to craft many useful glyphs that can be put into certain glyph slots and improve a character's abilities. A very good glyph for the Protection Warrior is the Glyph of Sunder Armor. This glyph causes the Warrior's ability Sunder Armor to hit a second nearby target, which makes tanking a group of enemies much easier. New Talents in the Protection tree are Warbringer and Damage Shield. Warbringer allows the Warrior to use his Charge ability while in combat and in any stance. Damage Shield causes damage to anyone attacking the Warrior depending on his shield block value. These abilities help the Warrior while he is questing and farming as well.
